I realize that I should have posted this about a week ago...but you know
Sometimes things happen (like your camera and computer just aren't together at the same time).
You are too busy having fun with the kids to write a post
Or you just needed a break from blogging for a week to gather your thoughts.
I do have a little bit of business to settle first and that is to announce the winner of my Nature Box giveaway:
a Rafflecopter giveaway Congratulations Amorette!
I hope you enjoy their May box...do please tell us what goodies you get!
Now on to my actual post...Easter.
As I have three children I have been trying to work more towards centering their celebrations of holidays on the religious aspects and less about the commercial.
For example on Easter morning there were no Easter baskets (I know right now there is a collective sigh wondering why I would do this to my kids).
In actuality the only one who asked was my oldest and when I told him we would be having a little celebration later he was completely satisfied.
It's not that I just want to enforce that Easter is really about the washing away of sins and less about a cute bunny bringing you candy.
I want them to appreciate each other and not focus so much on always "getting" things.
So we had a simple egg hunt in the backyard (the eggs were empty...I know again I am horrible). Each child was assigned two colors and sent to find the eggs (hidden on various levels of difficulty depending on your age).
And yes shirts were optional for the kids when they were hunting:
We probably hid the eggs for Caroline 3 or 4 times, she just had so much fun looking for them. In fact she was probably the best egg hunter and ended up finding quite a few for the boys.
All in all it was a beautiful day and the kids were indeed given a small treat when they finished their dinner.
A chocolate bar crafted at The Chocolate Fetish (Asheville, NC) which we picked up on our Anniversary trip.
I hope you all had good Easters and wonderful week following it.
I will be back on track with my posts this week and have a couple of giveaways...WOOHOO!
It looks like your kids had a wonderful time with the egg hunt--and you gave them much better chocolate than most kids get for Easter!
ReplyDeleteOMG - I have been to The Chocolate Fetish! That sounds like the perfect Easter treat.
ReplyDeleteTopless Easter egg hunts! Ya'll know how to throw a celebration! ;o)
ReplyDeleteDo you live near Asheville? That is where we took our first family vacation last year. We absolutely loved that town!
