It is hard to believe that it has been 11 years since the attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash in Shanksville, Pa.

The imagery brings back to the surface all of the emotions of the day for me.

I remember that I was at work and one of the captains came in and said there was a crash at the World Trade Center.

We went into a conference room to watch the news and as we were watching we saw the second plane hit.  It was a period of confusion and bewilderment as to why this would happen.

Working for a municipality we had a heightened sense of awareness for surrounding areas and certain locations we thought could be possible targets.

I am glad that in 11 years since then we haven't had any further terrorist attacks.

Hopefully we will go many more in safety.

To the military personnel, firefighters, police officers, and EMS workers thank you for all that you do.  You are the only ones who rush into a burning building when everyone else is running out.

You are a special breed of people and ones who should be thanked on a daily basis.

  1. It was so confusing during those first few hours when we had no answers. I remember exactly where I was. I will never forget.

  2. It is hard to believe that it's been 11 years since 9/11. I was in school when the towers were hit and didn't know about it until hours after it actually happened. The first thing I thought of when I heard was the stories my grandmother would tell about the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. She remembered exactly where she was when she heard the news. I guess it's something you never really forget.
