My March Foodie PenPal

This is my 4th month of participating in Foodie PenPals which is graciously put together by Lindsay (The Lean Green Bean).

This month I was given Sarah a.k.a Miss Smart who writes The Smart Kitchen to send a package to.

I was a bit intimidated because to me as a little blogger Miss Smart is way above me (hello she met Tyler Florence) so I put together a package that I hope she enjoyed.  Be sure to stop by her blog and take a peek at the goodies.

The box I was sent could not have been more perfect.

I received a package from Mellissa of A Fit and Spicy Life.

As a side bar here I must say that I have been introduced to some fabulous blogs through this monthly program and really do love getting to meet new people.

So Mellissa was kind enough to send me a whole host of yummy goodies:

As a Southerner we have a thing for iced tea (or sweet tea down here) and this candy is just like drinking a glass.

The almond crunch was delicious and a perfect snack all week after I tore into my box.  As for the fruit well I lost it to my daughter who wanted to have it in her yogurt (I couldn't deny her).

I was VERY excited for the Himalayan salt, knowing the numerous health benefits (check it out here). This is actually the second time I received this, I also had some in my Conscious Box.  My husband was psyched to see the paprika and has absconded with that for his cooking ventures (he is actually wonderful cook...no baking though he can't do that).

Mellissa thank you so much for such a wonderful and thoughtful box which just happens to be full of variety.

So there you have it my wonderful and creative box.  Seeing this does it make you want to join the fun?

I thought it might...so in anticipation of that here are the rules and regulations (really it's not that formal, but I just wanted to say that):

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
***If you’re in the UK, please contact Carol Anne from This Is Rock Salt at rocksalt@thisisrocksalt.com to get involved!
