Margarita Day

I don't know if you are aware but today is National Margarita Day.

Yep that's right there is a holiday that encourages you to consume alcohol.

Now I am not saying that I am against this at all...I DO love a good margarita.

So in celebration I present to you some fantastic margaritas (if you are going to try them let me know so I can taste test):

Happy Friday!

Hello everyone!

I hope that you are staying warm.  Here in North Carolina it is 27 degrees and it is supposed to start snowing by noon.

The accumulation isn't supposed to be more than an inch...but I don't know how much you can really trust the weather people around here.

Today, because it is so cold, I wanted to share a few warm thoughts from Pinterest:

I am very ready for summer to get here...or at least warmer weather.

Before I sign off for this balmy Friday I wanted to share something I stumbled upon.

On Etsy there is a group of vegan artisans who have come together and produce vegan items...should that be of interest to you.

You can find them here or by going to www.Etsy.com and searching veganetsy (yes all one word).

Happy Friday to All

Today's post is a bit of a mish mosh.

Here are some things I have been wanting to share, but on their own they don't really warrant an entire post.

I have been drinking lemon water because I heard it was a good way to start off the day...and I always read Sharon having it when she puts up her WIAW posts.

I opened the Vega newsletter this morning and low and behold they listed out 5 reasons to drink lemon water...sweet (well really tart):

Support immune function: Lemons are high in antioxidant vitamin C, known for its supportive role in healthy immune function.
Alkalize the body: Although the tartness of a lemon may make them seem acidic, lemons are actually one of the most alkalizing foods for the body. Lemons contain both citric and ascorbic acid, weak acids easily metabolized from the body allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalize the blood.
Aid digestion: Citrus flavonols are believed responsible for lemon’s traditional use as a digestive tonic.
Clear skin: Vitamin C and other antioxidants in lemons combat free radical damage. Free radical damage — especially as caused by UV exposure and environmental toxins — is responsible for many symptoms of aging.
Promote healing: Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), found in abundance in lemons, promotes wound healing, and is an essential nutrient in the maintenance of healthy bones, connective tissue, and cartilage.

These are some fantastic reasons to start your day off with lemons...so run out and pick up 1 or 20 and get to drinking.

My daughter found a new way to sleep:

She is in a box with two pillows curled up in a semi-fetal position.  I don't know how her legs didn't fall asleep, but she seemed very pleased with her ingenuity when I talked to her about it after the fact.

The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap 2012

You receive the name of three fellow bloggers and send them each a dozen homemade cookies (include the recipe).  In return you receive 3 dozen cookies from other bloggers.

I participated last year and so enjoyed the treats I received (I was given 3 vegan bloggers and in return received vegan cookies).

You can participate outside of the US as long as there are 4 other bloggers from your country to participate.

This year's swap has an added feature in that you make a $4 donation to Cookies for Kids' Cancer as part of your participation.

So not only will you be filling your tummy you will be filling this wonderful charities coffers as well.

I am going to be running my second 5k, Hit the Brixx, this weekend.

Not only have I roped my mom into coming again (she ran the Women's Only 5k with me 2 weeks ago) but my 10 year old, Owen, is going as well.

I am excited to keep up the running fun.  I really can't believe that I enjoy training and running, as I have spent 30 years avoiding it (maybe this is what a mid-life crisis is).

The Packers won, and won big last weekend (WOOHOO), with Aaron Rodgers ALMOST scoring a touchdown (it was brought back when one of his teammates fouled):

To end this on a foodie note here is my absolute favorite find on Pinterest this week:

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Thanks so much for reading my ramblings.

What fun things are you going to do this weekend?

Pinterest in the Raw

Last Friday I was overcome with chocolate.

I feel a little guilty about the copious amounts displayed...ssssssooooooo this week

I decided I would show a healthier version of my Pinterest loves.

I am very intrigued by raw food.

I have only attempted one raw dessert and it was from Natalia KW's book Cupcake Heaven.

They were quite tasty, but for whatever reason I have not gone back to raw.

So I am feeling inspired and hopefully I will actually make some of these glorious foods:

Have you tried any raw food?

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and if you need some resources on raw food check out Gena (pronounced Jenna) over at Choosing Raw...such a wealth of knowledge.

Friday Pinterest Cravings

Today is Friday...WOOHOO!

I have had some delicious vegan food this week, and I really haven't had much in the way of dessert.

I have a serious craving today for chocolate.

I know you get it too.

To help sate that feeling I pinned several vegan delights via Pinterest and wanted to share them with you today:

I now sufficiently have a tooth ache and feel a bit of sugar overload...but sometimes it is worth it.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.  I am looking forward to heading to the farmers market to see what great finds I can come upon.

What are you cooking/baking this weekend?

Have a very Pinteresting Weekend

To start this long holiday weekend off (for those of you who are in the United States) I thought I would share some of the super cool stuff I found on Pinterest this week.

Yes it is an addiction and I don't know how to slow it down.

The little voice in my head says "keep pinning."

So join my vice and pin these pins :)

Playing Catch Up

Happy Tuesday to one and all.

You will have to forgive me for writing a "catch up" post.  I am in a serious state of food bliss, I blame this on the Whole Foods salad bar I had for lunch capped off with a GT's kombucha (seriously addictive stuff).

I have been catching up this past week on my blog reading, I have been sorely behind.

I found out that one blogger is have a baby, congrats Steph!

Anna made some gold medal worthy s'mores krispies bars.

Laura made some French toast Elvis would be envious of.

And Sharon made some gorgeous (or lush as she would say) vegan jello.

Once I made it through my blog loves I had to check out Pinterest.

Pinterest has a ton more interesting stuff on it, since I was last there.

I found a cool work out...not sure if it will work, but it won't take much time to find out:

These delicious doughnut pancakes caught my eye:

However one thing left me puzzled:

Seriously?  With 3 kids I don't have time to read 99 ways to simply life.  How about simplifying the list.

Maybe this is what is needed to help simplify:

Anything caught your eye lately?  Recipes that you want to try?  Are you as addicted to Pinterest as I am?

Tomorrow I have a giveaway for you lovely people and I can't wait to share it :)

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday to one and all!

I want to first say congratulations to Anna for winning my Lucy's Cookies giveaway.  A box of their yummy goodness will be coming to you.

This week has been interesting.

We got the news on Sunday that my husband's maternal grandmother passed away.  So we quickly put our travel plans together and got child care settled as we had to travel to York, PA for the service.

It was a fantastic trip because we got to see many relatives that we don't often see...however it was indeed a sad occassion that we had to get together this way.

In lieu of the trip I haven't been able to spend any time in the kitchen to bring a recipe to you so I would like to share some of my favorite food finds on Pinterest:

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and Happy Father's Day to all of you fathers (current or sometime in the future) out there.
