A Day of Randomness

I feel like there has been so much going on.

With that came no time to blog.

So I have several random things I want to share.

First is a picture that my friend Marisha put up on Facebook yesterday.

I have know Marisha since we were 3 years old and I just died laughing when I saw this, as it adequately sums us up:

For those of you who didn't know today is Peter Carl Faberge's 166th birthday.

I have always been fascinated by his eggs and always hoped that one of these would be in my Easter basket, but alas it wasn't meant to be:

My Pinterest addiction has gotten the best of me this week as I look at cakes.

My mom's birthday is Sunday and I will be making her something delicious, but I also found these awesome cakes as inspiration (sorry Mom you won't be getting one of these):

cake made of cake pops

This one you might get:

On a more serious note, although belated, I want to thank all of the active and retired military personnel who have served our country and done their duty to give us our freedom.

Thank you for your time, and for those of you who gave the ultimate sacrifice, thank you for your life.

A Winner and 2 New Giveaways

I want to announce the winner of my Rudi's art kit giveaway.  It is Helen!!!!  Congratulations I will be sending you an e-mail today to get your shipping information.

I have two more giveaways today that I want to share with you all.

I know I could spread them out but really they can go hand in hand.

Everyone I know is constantly talking about getting healthier.

I would like to help by giving away:

Two 2-Box Cheerios

(currently sold Sam's and Costco)

The new packaging may not seem like much, but...

  • By reducing the amount of air in each individual bag, these enhanced containers fit 10% more cereal than before and use less packaging
  • While each box contains more cereal, packaging material has been reduced by over 200,000 lbs, saving 1,000 trees and taking 130 Cheerios trucks of the road, decreasing CO2 emissions

  • Pretty cool!

My second giveaway is to help you squeeze more veggies into your diet.

Did you know that Weight Watchers has teamed up with Green Giant?

Green Giant's frozen veggies come in at 1 and 2 points a piece.  If you would like to incorporate them in a recipe check out this website here.

The prize pack being offered is very cool:

    • insulated lunch bag
    • ice pack
    • BPA-free water bottle
    • 2 coupons for Green Giant frozen veggies
    • Lunch box (with fork and knife)
    • notepad to track the foods you eat daily
To win these giveaways you just need to leave me a comment below (any comment, as long as it is nice, will do).

I will announce the winners Monday morning.  I will pick one reader per prize pack.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

“Disclosure:  Cheerios® cereal, information, and giveaway have been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.”

“Disclosure:  The coupons, information, and additional gift pack have been provided by Green Giant® and Weight Watchers® through MyBlogSpark.”

    Happy Birthday Baby Girl

I should have written this post 11 days ago.

I should be scheduling myself better so that I can get posts up at least 5 days a week.

I should have had a real breakfast this morning instead of a two-bite blueberry scone from Whole Foods.

There are many things I should have done, but I can't look back on these things and be upset, I just need to push forward.

So Caroline I am sorry this post is 11 days late, but I want to celebrate your birthday if it is all the same to you.

3 years ago I said a little prayer when I found out I was pregnant.  I made a little deal with God that if he would give me a girl would withstand morning sickness or whatever he wanted to throw my way.

Man oh man was I sick for about 24 weeks, but at 6:54 pm on May 12th we were blessed with our third child and first girl Caroline.

Everyday of illness was ABSOLUTELY worth it.

You are the apple of my eye.

You have grown quite a bit since that first day:

    A few minutes old

    2 months old

    6 months old

    1st birthday

    2nd birthday

3rd birthday (the girl does love a cupcake)

You have the most wonderful demeanor and joy for life.

It is an honor to be given the job as your Mom.  I look forward to watching you grow.

    Feeling Creative?

I wanted to share with you all a program that Rudi's Organic Bakery is running called Let's Doodle Lunch.

Through their Facebook page they are accepting uploads of kids art work (and let me tell you the gallery has got some very cool submissions).

There will be a contest and in the end some lucky children will have their art on the front of a sandwich box.

    Pretty cool idea huh?

I think so, but then packing lunches in a cute way makes me excited...I might be a little weird.

Rudi's is working with The Lunch Box to help encourage more homemade lunches and to help children, grades K-12, to move away from processed foods.

What better way to encourage children to eat a homemade lunch than by eating from their own sandwich box adorned with their artwork.

So you've checked out the links above and now you are thinking "Man I wish I had some art supplies so I could create a sandwich box!"

I knew you were, so guess what?

One of my lucky readers is going to win this delightful art set (compliments of Rudi's):

    In your package is included:
    • sketch pad
    • reusable bag
    • beret (all artists need one)
    • art set (includes paints, crayons, and markers)
    • 2 coupons for Rudi's bread
Do you need some suggestions as to what bread to pick up with your coupons?

I would be more than happy to give you my two cents.

My favorite is the Rocky Mountain Sourdough and their newest addition to the Rudi's family the Multigrain Sandwich Flatz.

The sourdough has just the perfect "sourness" and it is soft and delicious to boot.  The flatz provide a reduced calorie option for sandwiches (at only 110 calories a piece), not to mention they have 24 grams of whole grains and 5 grams of fiber.

Should you be sensitive or allergic to gluten Rudi's does have a gluten free line to suit your needs as well (you must try the cinnamon raisin...YUM!).

Now that I have made you hungry for both bread and to make some art how about entering the giveaway.

    A Mother's Day Lunch

Happy Mother's Day to you all

For my women readers you may not be a mother to a child but you may certainly have influence over some children OR maybe some pets.

Any which way I do just want to give a pat on the back to all of the women out there so that they know they are loved and appreciated.

I have been away from blogging for a little while so this post may be a little bit like learning to ride a bike again.

I took a little unintentional vacation from blogging as time just didn't seem to be available, however today that changes and I want to share with you a local restaurant that my mom and I visited this weekend in honor of Mother's Day.

The Celtic Fringe in Reidsville, NC.

A fantastic little pub serving some very delicious food.

I had the fish and chips (the fish was haddock and the fries were hand cut):

My mom chose the Welsh rarebit:

I forgot to take a picture of the delicious chocolate cake and strawberry shortcake, my apologies once I saw my cake I just had to dig right in...there was no time to get a camera out.

The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was something right out of Europe.

If you ever find yourself in small town Reidsville, NC make sure to make The Celtic Fringe one of your stops.

This was a great Mother's Day treat, and I hope my mom enjoyed going as much as I did.

It was kind of nice, even though I love my children, to have a meal without them and be able to carry on an actual adult conversation, and more importantly, with no interruptions.

So again Happy Mother's Day mom...I love you.

    Happy 5th Birthday

Yesterday was my son Andrew's 5th birthday.

I don't know how the time has passed so quickly as it just seems like yesterday that you were so tiny.

You've gone from figuring out how to eat

    To helping prepare food

I just want to say that you will always hold a special place in my heart.  And when the ladies come knocking at the door (because you are a miniature Paul Newman) I don't intend to make it easy for them.

    I love you wild man
